BMW E24 Cabin Light Retrofit

Having recently purchased a 1985 BMW 635CSi, I was slightly disappointed with the interior cabin light that came from the factory. BMW decided to place the only light inside the cabin behind the driver’s head which is great for illuminating the footwell of the back seats, but not really useful for those in the front seats.

I purchased these small LED button lights and designed a 3D printed panel that would secure it and mount to the removeable plastic panel that provides access to the sunroof motor. The two plastic panels sandwich the headliner trim in the same plane as the light to hold it in place and does a very good job of lighting up the center console area.
